Introducing a New Standard of Rate Measurement

Computak™ offers a complete rate measuring system in one universal instrument, advancing the state of the art three ways:
  1. Computak™ is programmed to compute and read out in any one of 13 units of measurement in the English system (model CT2000), or any one of 6 units of measurement in the Metric system (model CT2100), without the use of special adapters.
  2. Computak™ sets a new standard for low speed measurement. Computak™ is easy to operate; one push-button gives you complete control. No conversion or calculation errors. Rugged sealed construction resists environmental and operational abuse. Computak™ is the most advanced digital hand tachometer available.
  3. Computak™ spans the widest range of speeds ever achieved in a single hand tachometer, featuring an auto-ranging liquid crystal display which indicates from .25 to 50,000 RPM with exceptional accuracy.

Patented Single Push-Button Operation

Normal Operation

  1. Simply press the push-button once to activate the unit. The mode (unit of measure) is recalled from memory and shown on the display.
  2. Take measurements: the speed is 'displayed almost instantly with the decimal point properly located. (The mode is shown any time that measurements are not being taken.)
  3. Automatic shut-off occurs after you are finished. The batteries cannot be discharged accidentally.

Mode Selection

  1. To change the unit of measure, hold the push-button down when the contact shaft is at rest. After a short time, modes will cycle across the display. Release the pushbutton when the required mode appears.
  2. That's it! The new mode is now locked in the internal memory, and will not change unless you select another.

Memory Feature

  1. To freeze the display, press the pushbutton while taking a measurement. This reading is held in memory and displayed alternately with its mode.
  2. To clear memory, press the push-button when the contact shaft is at rest. The display returns to normal.

Bold Clear Liquid Crystal Display, Sunlight Readable

The mode is displayed between measurements (yards per hour in this case). The last mode used is stored in memory and automatically recalled when the unit is switched on. 13 units of measure are available in one instrument.

The display is updated every 0.8 seconds. There is no need to hold the push-button down. Computak is auto-ranging, no conversion or scale factors to use. A significant advance in error free measurement!

Important Features:
  • Extremely Wide Speed Range -.25-50,000 RPM without adapters!
  • Microprocessor-Based - performs all calculations for you
  • Bold LCD Display -For excellent visibility
  • Auto-Ranging Read Out - Measurements displayed directly
  • Accuracy at Low Speeds -Answers displayed to two decimals
  • Single Push-Button Operation - For easy use
  • Versatile - Reads in revolutions, feet, inches, yards, etc. - even miles per hour
  • Cast Aluminum Construction - Rugged & durable, resists abuse

Tremendous Versatility
In a Single Unit
...

Reads in any of 3 rotational modes - revolutions per minute, per second or per hour.

With linear speed wheel attached, reads out in any of 10 additional modes - in feet, inches, yards per minute, per second and per hour. ALSO miles per hour.

Computak used to monitor production rate of web process. Speed is read directly in feet per hour.
Bench Testing A Servo Motor.- Computak™ measures as high as 50,000 RPM!
Measuring speed of enclosed motor driven gearbox. No loss of accuracy at low speeds!
Milling machine feed is read directly in inches per minute. (Reads down to 1.50"/min!) Rugged sealed construction is safe for shop use.

Theory of Operation

Input shaft revolutions are converted into pulses by an internal optical shutter wheel. The pre-programmed microprocessor then computes speed by measuring the time duration of a series of pulses. The result is multiplied by the appropriate conversion factor and displayed on the liquid crystal display. This technique allows precise measurement of speeds as low as.25 RPM and as high as 50,000 RPM without adjustment or additional accessory drives. This concept is patent pending.
