Heavy-Duty Speed Switch
Protects equipment against overspeeding and underspeeding • Activates electrical devices at specified RPM • Controls conveyor speeds • Provides quick, safe stops

The JONES Heavy-Duty Speed Switch is used on engines, buses, pumps, generator sets, process control, conveyors, off-highway and construction equipment, and any machinery where auxiliary electrical equipment is to be actuated at a specified speed.

Here are a few of the valuable functions performed by the JONES Speed Switch:

Controls overspeeding of engines, machinery, pumps and other equipment where high speeds are undesirable or unsafe. Available with up to 4 individual switch points.

Provides underspeed protection. Acts as starter motor disconnect.

Automatically energizes auxiliary motors, relays, solenoids and other electrical equipment at specified speeds.

Controls synchronization of conveyor speeds to avoid material traffic-jams; also indicates slippage or breakage of conveyor belts.

For use in plugging operations for safe, quick stops.

Rugged dependability • Easily adjusted • High electrical ratings • Accurate • Maintenance-free

Rugged, weatherproof construction is a standard feature of JONES Heavy-Duty Speed Switches. All rotating parts are mounted on factory-lubricated ball bearings for smooth operation and exceptionally long maintenance-free life. The three weight flyball governor is the same as that which has made Jones the most respected and trusted name in the heavy-duty tachometer field. These governors have been proven in literally hundreds of thousands of tachometer installations since their introduction by Jones in 1918.

Important features:
JONES famous rugged dependability is built into every speed switch model.
Extreme accuracy and repeatability within 1 % of switch point RPM, regardless of direction of input shaft rotation.
Each electrical switch is specially designed to our specifications and has unusually high inductive load rating: 15 amperes at 6-14 volts DC; 10 amperes at 24-30 volts DC. Its AC rating is 15 amperes at 110/220 volts AC.
Switch points are easily adjustable to within 20 RPM ...while the engine is running.
All units are easily made tamperproof by the simple addition of "security wiring" to the cover screws.
External or internal manual resets are available on high-speed and low-speed switches for maximum security and versatility.
Simple installation.
Weatherproof enclosure.
The JONES Heavy-Duty Speed Switch can be used with other JONES heavy-duty products for a complete system to provide maximum assurance of the utmost in reliability and rugged dependability: JONES Tachometers and Speedometers, JONES Flexible Cables, JONES Drive Adapters.
